The Portland Winterhawks came to play at the 2nd annual All American Prospects Game in Pittsburgh last night. Keegan Iverson walked away with the hardware (as player of the game) and Team Mark Johnson defeated Team Joe Mullen 5-2 behind a goal and an assist from Iverson and a goal from Chase De Leo.
Iverson used the chemistry that he developed while playing with Dylan Larkin (from the U.S. Development Program) during the 2012 Quebec Challenge last year to set up 2 of the goals for Team Johnson for the victory in the showcase for American players eligible for 2014's NHL draft.
De Leo, who scored the insurance goal to make it 4-2 in the 3rd, was one of only 3 "A" rated draft eligible players playing in the game for the U.S. The other two are Larkin and U.S. Development Team Forward Sonny Milano.
Dominic Turgeon was invited to play in the tournament as well, but had to bow out due to ongoing injury issues.
