Victoria Fallout etc.

So Victoria's Head Coach Dave Lowry was suspended for 1 game and fined $1,500. Forward Tim Traber gets 6 games and Defenseman Keegan Kanzig gets 2 games, all for actions that took place Tuesday night in Kamloops. Lowry served his 1 game Wednesday vs. Kelowna and Kanzig will miss the game Friday vs. Vancouver. He will return Sunday vs. Portland. Traber could return for their game at Everett, March 17th to end the season.

These absences further hurt Victoria, because they have been without Forwards: Trent Lofthouse, Alex Gogolev, Taylor Crunk, Luke Harrison, Logan Nelson and Logan Fisher, to go with Defenseman and Captain Tyler Stahl. They only dressed 16 skaters vs. the Rockets and are mired in a winless streak that has hit 11 games. At the beginning of the streak they were sitting in 4th and now have dropped down to 6th place in the West.

Portland Mayor Sam Adams
Portland Mayor Sam Adams has, reportedly again delayed the deal to renovate the Memorial Coliseum. This means, the decision that had been delayed until March 13th, will be delayed even further.

The Winterhawks are again ranked 2nd in the BMO CHL top 10 rankings. Other WHL teams in the top 10: Edmonton(4), Kelowna(5) and Kamloops(8). The Hawks have been ranked in the top 10 for all 24 weeks of the season.

In former Hawk news: Scott Nichol scored his first Goal of the year for the St.Louis Blues last night, in their 6-3 win over the Phoenix Coyotes. It was Nichol's 56th Goal of his NHL career.
