4 Hawks Make Central Scouting's "Ones to Watch," List for 2014 NHL Draft

De Leo
This morning NHL Central Scouting released their preliminary list for the 2013 draft. They rated the top North American eligible players as "A", "B", or "C."

They listed a total of 33 WHL skaters and 2 WHL Goalies. Of the 33 skaters listed; Chase De Leo was one of seven given an "A" rating. Josh Hanson, Keegan Iverson and Dominic Turgeon were all given a C rating. This would usually equate to being picked late in the draft, if at all.

De Leo seems likely to benefit from a late birthday (October 25th) as it is difficult to imagine him getting selected in the first two rounds last draft as this rating would seem to almost guarantee. De Leo could even improve upon that rating as both Nic Petan Oliver Bjorkstrand did, should the Hawks make another deep run in the playoffs leading to more exposure to NHL scouts.

Hanson was eligible for last year's draft but was not taken. His lack of ice time behind a talanted unit last year could be a reason why he was not chosen.

Turgeon and Iverson are two that really have a lot to prove this season before an NHL club takes a chance on them, even though they have the size, that a lot of scouts love.

Also, the news that Dominic's injury will keep him out of the All-American Prospect Game on Thursday in Pittsburgh cannot help his draft stock.
